This gives us a chance to connect and to discuss the birth of your baby and your feeding history. We can then decide on the next best step.

This typically lasts about an hour and a half. (If necessary, it can be done by zoom). It gives us a chance to assess any feeding issues and to come up with a plan to help. This might include

• Assessing latch and suck

• Managing milk supply

• Bottle feeding

• Issues like painful feeding, sore nipples and clogged ducts

• Pumping

I also like to take time to look at the baby’s behaviour together with the parents to see if we can better understand their strengths and where they might need support. This is part of my Newborn Behavioural work.

I typically follow up with a video call over the next few days to assess how things are going
