  • What is a Lactation counsellor?
    A lactation counsellor is there to support mothers in breastfeeding. The training includes 52 hours of clinical education, including the anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding, normal breastfeeding, breast and nipple issues, breastfeeding management issues, breastfeeding problems and solutions. An exam needs to be passed. A Lactation counsellor is bound by the CLC code of Professional conduct. A Lactation counsellor is required to re-register every 3 years. This ensures that they are up to date in their practice and education
  • Why contact a Lactation counsellor?
    You may consider contacting a Lactation counsellor if you are having problems with, for example - feeding - sore nipples - concerns over milk production - blocked ducts or just feel you need support
  • What does a consultation involve?
    I visit at home so you and your baby can avoid the hassle of travelling. I assess your feeding history and have a look at your feeding position and latch I look with you at your baby’s behaviours to help you understand what your baby is communicating to you Together we work on practical issues, techniques and a feeding plan.
